Yoruba Beaded Belts/Hangings

These beaded belts / sashes / hangings are created by the Ibo and Yoruba peoples of Nigeria. They are generally made with size 10 seed beads, over a padded cloth backing. Some are lined with Cowrie shells (symbol of status and femininity)and some have tassels. Various patterns beaded onto these "belts" depict faces, human figures, fish, turtles, birds, frogs, snakes, and crocodile. Often times facial features, and sometimes entire animals are three dimensional. These are great purchases for your personal collections and great for generating or accommodating customer interest in unique cultural art.
