Carved Water Buffalo Horn

Hollowed horns like these were often made into instruments and played during royal ceremonies. Each hollowed carved horn is 13" (measured from horn tip to furthest edge). One side of each horn depicts a traditional male face, wearing a traditional head piece. On the "opposite" side of one horn, is pictured three crocodiles (big lizards?). The other, pictures three crocodiles (Alligators?) surrounding a spider. Also depicted are cowrie shells and other traditional designs. Both shells are of a black, dark brown color. These are in great condition!
