These beads are molded Czech glass, for the Islamic prayer bead trade. The strands in this first section have visited Africa for varying amounts of time – maybe long enough to get traded a few times, maybe just long enough to get strung before coming to the U.S.

These molded Czech glass beads were originally made for the Islamic prayer bead trade. Their intricate patterns and gemstone colors have made them popular around the world. This is newer Czech glass.
